The Cycle of Crime
For the most part, troubled teens come from homes where they are abused and/or neglected. The teens begin to experiment with drugs and alcohol to cover the pain and hurt. Involvement with drugs and alcohol leads to poor school performance and disinterest in school.
The disinterest in school leads to criminal activity and eventually arrest. These teens are locked up in juvenile detention centers with peers from similar backgrounds. Eventually these teens are released back to dysfunctional homes and back to the streets; most are re-arrested.
While in the detention centers, the teens often reach a point of hopelessness.
Carmen Ministries seeks to break the cycle of crime in the youth detention center at the point of hopelessness. We intervene with Bible Study Sessions and community involvement. We offer a different path which will hopefully break the cycle of crime.
