Carmen Ministries’ involvement generally begins while troubled teens are housed in juvenile institutions. Weekly these teens choose to attend group meetings where the Word of God is brought to them during Bible Study Sessions by Carmen Ministries’ volunteers. These teens may also choose to attend special events with groups from the community as well.
The teens are also encouraged to participate in any educational opportunities available to them while in institutions and after release.
Once these teens leave the juvenile institutions, the teens can be paired up with Christian volunteers for one-to-one mentoring as they return to their communities. While mentoring after release, Carmen Ministries’ volunteers teach independent living skills, assist with job searches and training, and work to remove roadblocks to allow the pursuit of educational goals. All of this provides a structure to transition young people back into society as healthy contributors.

Hearing the Word of God and being exposed to healthy, wholesome activities prepares the teens to re-enter their community strengthened by God’s teachings.
Ninety-four percent of the young people in juvenile institutions have never had a relationship with a positive adult role model.
